Oak Park
ABOUT US
Oak Park Christian Center is home to hundreds of families of different generations, ethnicities, languages and socioeconomic statuses.
It is important to us that everyone who visits has access to hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we offer interpretation for the hearing-impaired every Sunday morning at 10:30 am. We offer Spanish translation services during our 10:30 am service. We also have a ministry for those with special needs that meets weekly and monthly, called Revive. In addition, we have handicap-accessible seating on our lower level.
For parents of babies and toddlers, we have a nursery staffed with qualified, caring adults.
Parents are welcome to watch the service from our Parent's Room, located adjacent to the nursery, and we have a nursing mother's room available as well.
Children are welcome to join their parents in the main service, but we find that they love our children's ministry programs and often want to join the other kids in singing, playing, and learning Bible stories.
OUR BELIEFS
Oak Park Christian Center is an evangelical church, affiliated with the Assemblies of God. We have a rich, Pentecostal history. You can read more about our statement of beliefs here.
OUR LEADERSHIP
OUR MISSION
"Building generations and reaching nations for Christ."
It is our mission to reach every generation, tribe, tongue and nation for Jesus Christ. We are a multi-cultural, multi-generational church where everyone is welcome. We support almost 100 missionaries every month who are preaching the gospel around the world.
OUR HISTORY
Oak Park Christian Center was established in 1938 in Walnut Creek and was later moved to its current location here in Pleasant Hill.
Pastor Bill Matthews was the previous pastor and served for 40 years. Under his leadership, Oak Park grew immensely, was taken through several building projects, and grew abundantly. Pastor Bill left an amazing legacy. Pastor Bill retired in 2015 to pursue a dream of starting a home for adults with special needs. As he transitioned out of leadership, he began a three-year mentorship with Pastor Sean, our current lead pastor.
Pastor Sean Fitzhugh and his wife Leslie have been serving at Oak Park Christian Center since 2004, and he has been our lead pastor since 2015.
