KidVenture! Children’s Ministries
Are you ready for an adventure? If so, join us at KidVenture—the Children’s Ministries of Oak Park Christian Center. At KidVenture, children discover the amazing adventure of following Jesus.
“No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this, never so much as imagined anything quite like it—what God has arranged for those who love Him.” – I Corinthians 2:9,10 (The Message)
At KidVenture we are dedicated to the spiritual discovery, discipleship, and development of children ages 4 years through 5th grade. Our program is based on solid Biblical instruction, times of worship, and creative community and friendship building activities. KidVenture is comprised of various children’s ministries, which falls under (3) major categories: Discovery, Discipleship, and Development.
- Discovery: On Sunday morning’s we feature a high-powered 3-hour program that fills kids with excitement about following Jesus. At KidVenture visitors and regular attenders alike are discovering that Sunday is the best day in every kid’s week!
- Discipleship: Wednesday nights are dedicated to solid Biblical instruction and small group mentorship programs. Through our scouting clubs MPact for girls and Royal Rangers for boys, children are discipled and encouraged to grow in their relationship with Christ. They earn badges as they complete various levels of Bible study and memorization. These clubs also enjoy fun activities both on and off site.
- Development: Helps children grow as soul winners for our community. By providing fun-filled activities such as: Big Church Sunday, KidZone, Vacation Bible School, Easter Egg Hunt and other various seasonal events, children are encouraged to get involved in spreading the Gospel by inviting friends, family, and neighbors to kid-friendly church events.
Open Arms / Special Needs
KidCompass
KidCompass provides educational and behavioral support to children 3 years old (toilet trained) through fifth grade with disabilities, during Sunday church services at 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. This ministry provides accommodations in order to facilitate Biblical learning and to promote positive fellowship and social interactions between children with and without disabilities. Our goal for these children is to include them in the programs we offer.
“We don’t separate children with special needs from the main group. Instead we come along side them and help them be a part of what’s happening.” – Allison Smedley, Coordinator
All in Need
All in Need helps support and show Christ’s love to children 3 years old (toilet trained) through fifth grade, who have disabilities, by providing respite care for families on a monthly basis who do not qualify for services through other agencies. This will be done in a safe, loving and learning environment. Family respite care is offered one Friday night per month and includes childcare for special needs kids and their siblings as well as support time for families. This three hour program allows parents to go out on a date or take time with their typically developing child.
“Offering respite care will allow families to take care of themselves, so in return they can take better care of their children.” – Autumn Green, All in Need Coordinator
